Level 1 Beginner’s class

Max class size is 6 swimmers
Class held at the shallow end of the pool
Coach is in the pool

 

Level 2 requirementsPerform 10 bobs and submerge confidently (exhaling under the water)
Push, glide and kick half a width
Kick 8 meters front crawl with float - turning head to side to breathe (exhaling under water)
Swim 8 meters front crawl arms recovering over water with side breathing
Kick 8 meters back crawl with float
Swim 8 meters back crawl - arms recovering over the water
Half width breast stroke kick with float
Jump into water from the side assisted or unassisted
Demonstrate confidence in deeper water
Tread water for at least 5 seconds
Perform 10 bobs and submerge confidently (exhaling under the water)

Max class size is 6 swimmers.
Class held at the shallow end of the pool.
Coach is in the pool


 

Level 3 requirementsSwim 10 meters front crawl - kicking must be from hips, arms recovering over the water and breathing by rolling head to the side
Swim 10 meters back crawl - kicking must be from hips at surface of water straight arm recovery and correct body position
Swim 8 meters breaststroke with arms and legs circling and breathing to the front
Surface dive - pick up an object from a depth of at least 1 meter – head or feet first
Jump in confidently
Tread water for at least 10 seconds

Max class size is 6 swimmers.
Class swimming widths of the deep end of the pool.
Coach may be in the pool


 

Level 4 requirementsSwim 16 meters front crawl - arms recovering over the water, kicking from the hips and attempt at bilateral breathing
Swim 16 meters back crawl - correct body position, straight arm recovery
Swim 16 meters breaststroke - pull, breath, kick and glide - feet should be turned out
Kick 10 meters of butterfly kick - legs stay together and kick originates from the hips
Surface dive - pick up and object from a depth of at least 1.2 meters - head or feet first
Tread water for at least 30 seconds

Max class size is 8 swimmers per coach

Stroke Development Requirements
Swim 32 meters front crawl - kicking from the hips, bilateral breathing as arms go into recovery
Swim 32 meters breaststroke - pull, breathe, kick, glide- feet should be turned out
Swim 32 meters back crawl - correct body position, straight arm recovery
Kick 16 meters of butterfly kick - legs stay together and kick originates from the hips
Swim 10 meters of buttterfly - legs stay together and kick originates from hips
Tread water 20 seconds arms only, 20 seconds legs only
Surface dive 1.5 meters head and feet first

Max class size is 8 swimmers per coach

Coach not in the pool


Swimmers move from Stroke Development into Tadpoles in M & B club or into Mini-Fit




Mini-fit   

Mini-fit is for confident swimmers who have neither the time nor desire to commit to club swimming but wish to swim as a regular form of exercise.
