Slow swim fines

Fines for slow swim times:

With effect from 2008 Group 3 Championships, the fines associated with the following Championship Rule:

CH1.8      A fine shall be incurred by a swimmer at the Championships mentioned in CH1.2.

The fine shall be applied for each second or part thereof in every 100 metres by which the consideration time is exceeded in all cases where the swim exceeds the consideration time.

Will be implemented by the Championships Committee.

The Committee will identify the swimmers who do not meet the required criteria in their Championship swims and the relevant fines will  be invoiced to the Clubs by the District Treasurer.

Although the Rule has been "quoted":

Fines
Under District Rules there is a standard £2.00 Fine for any individual competitor who has recorded a time, slower than 1 second, for  each 100 metre (or part of 100 metre) outside the Consideration Time.

In all Championship Information Packs, the "culprits" have not been identified nor fines collected during the last 18 months due to administrative issues. The process was actively implemented prior to this period. These issues have now been resolved and the process will be re-established.

The objective of this rule is to encourage realistic Entry Times and the progression of a swimmer's personal programme and is not  implemented with objective of revenue generation.
