The club has six squads. Swimmers progress through the squads as they acquire the necessary skills and maturity. The squads are:-
| Teaching | Swimmers in the teaching squad start at about age five, generally beginners with little or no swimming abilities. |
| Tadpoles | Swimmers in Tadpoles will be introduced to competitive swimming events. This is a teaching squad with swimmers extending their skills to include starts and turns and further improvements in the four competitive swimming strokes. Swimmers are in the age range eight to ten. |
| Junior | Junior squad swimmers will have mastered some of the skills of the competitive swimmer, these skills are further refined in this squad. There is still a large element of teaching, the swimmers are taught to use the pace clock to work as a team and to be self motivated in training. Swimmers are in the age range ten to twelve. |
| Intermediate | This squad sees the transition from teaching to coaching. The number, duration and workload of sessions is increased and land training is introduced. Intermediate swimmers may be expected to travel further to events and compete more often, sometimes at a national level. |
| Senior | The senior squad is our elite squad. The swimmers in this squad are highly motivated to swim at the top competitive level. |
| Fitness | For ex-club swimmers who want to keep fit but have retired from competitive swimming. |
